Whenever there are limitations, tensions or asymmetries in and around the pelvis, these limitations propagate down into the legs and feet and up through the spine to the shoulders, neck and head.

Answers at a Glance

Body recentration is an enrichment for everyone as we all have asymmetries in the body. Stabilizing or reducing the asymmetries allows to prevent problems in the future. However, most people only discover body recentration once they have pain that starts to be recurring or chronic. Visible postural problems or movement restrictions are also reasons people start working with us. Body recentration is often the thing that finally brings hope in their journey to a healthy, pain-free body.

No, body recentration is a more holistic approach that usually differs from physical therapy in the choice of exercises and in the way it aims for tackling the root cause. Physical therapy often mainly aims at reducing symptoms. Thus, using body recentration in combination with physical therapy can be a very powerful method to reduce pain in the short and long-term.

Unfortunately body recentration or in general the work of the Postural Restoration Institute are not yet recongnized as a treatment by insurances. Our online courses aim to close this hole by being affordable and providing unlimited access. In case of specific issues, we recommend investing once in an assessment so we can recommend how to work best with the course in order to achieve a true change.

You need comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Clothing that shows the knees are to be preferred. If you are comfortable, for the assessment a naked torse (males) and only a bra (female) can allow for higher accuracy. This is not mandatory. It is important that you feel at ease.

For exercises, 1 or more yoga bricks (or a thick books/lunch boxes), a mat and some space at a wall will allow us highest flexibility in exercise selection.
